Born in Santa Fe, Argentina, Virginia Tola began her vocal studies at the Institute of Advanced Musical Studies of the National University of Litoral, with Ma. Horacio Amauri in 1992/93. She went on to take coaching lessons with Ma. Ana Sirulnik in Singing Technique and Ma. Gustavo Valerio in Repertoire in Buenos Aires in 1994/95. She was a student at the Advance Art Institute of the Colon Opera House in Buenos Aires with both Ma. Sirulnik and Ma. Valerio in 1996/99 and studied German Lied and French Song with Ma. Gillermo Opitz in the Chamber's Music Foundation in 1998/99.
Some of Ms. Tola's other studies include; 12 National Course of Lyrical Singing (Advanced Level) at the Advanced Art Institute of the Colon Opera House in Buenos Aires by Ma. Fenicia Cangemi in 1994, Italian and French Lyrical Repertoire by Ma. Irma Urteaga at the Institute of Advanced Musical Studies of the National University of Litoral in 1995, 9 Seminar of Vocal Interpretation by Ma. Douglas Hines (Vienna), organized by Musicales Festivals of Buenos Aires in 1995, Extraordinary Course of Vocal Interpretation by Ma. Ingelborg Wamser Holm (Vienna), at the Advanced Art Institute of the Colón Opera House in 1997, Course of Operatic Repertoire by Ma. Susana Cardonet at the Advanced Art Institute of the Colón Opera House in 1998, and French Opera Interpretation Course by Ma. Christopher Underwood (Scotland), at the Advanced Art Institute of the Colón Opera House in 1998.

Opitz with the Camerata Vocale at the Palaces and Residences of Buenos Aires City in 1997, "Argentine Christmas, 1997" conducted by G. Opitz at the Government House of Argentina in 1997, "Lyrical Concert of Arias" by Bizet and Puccini conducted by G. Brizzio with the Symphonic Orchestra of Santa Fe, Argentina at the Catholic University of Santa Fe in 1998, "Concert by Argentinean Contemporary Composers Work: Paráfrasis" (World Premiere), Composer J. Delorenzi, conducted by A. Spiller with the National Symphonic Orchestra in Belgrano's Auditorium, Buenos Aires in 1998, and a "German Romantic Concert" conducted by G. Opitz at the San Souci Palace in San Fernando, Buenos Aires in 1998.
Ms. Tola's Operatic repertoire consists of; the role of the Fairy of the dew in Humperdinck's "Hansel und Gretel" conducted by A. Balzanelli at the Municipal Theater in Santa Fe, Argentina 1992/93, the role of the Priestess in Verdi's "Aida", conducted by V. Falkenmeyer at the Municipal Theater of Santa Fe, Argentina 1995, the role of Mimi in Puccini's "La Boheme", conducted by G. Valerio at the General San Martin Cultural Center in Buenos Aires 1997, the role of Lia in Debussy's, conducted by M. Esoin at the Golden Room and the Experimentation Center "Lénfant Prodigue"of the Colon Opera House in Buenos Aires 1997, the role of Annetta in Ricci's "Crispino e la Camare" conducted by G. Valerio at the Golden Room of the Colon Opera House in Buenos Aires 1997, the role of a Young Girl in "Don Juan from Zorzi" (Worldwide First Audition) conducted by J.C. Zorzi at the Colon Opera House in Buenos Aires 1998, the role of Alice in Lambertini's "Alice in Wonderland" conducted by M. Esoin at the Experimentation Center of the Colon Opera House in Buenos Aires 1998, the role of Rosina in Rossini's "II Barbiere di Siviglia" conducted by A. Russo at the Avenida Theater 1999, and the role of Micaela in Bizet's "Carmen" conducted by J. Carciofolo with the Argentine Theater of La Plata City 1999.
For the 2000/01 season, Ms. Tola began by winning 3 prizes in Placido Domingo's Worldwide Competition, "Operalia." Following that, was engaged for a concert in Mexico City with Placido Domingo and then went to Oslo where she sang the role of Mimi in "La Boheme." Ms. Tola will also have the honor of singing at the "Kennedy Center Honors" on December 3, where Placido Domingo will be one of the 5 Honorees. She returns to Oslo later in this season for Concerts and then to Norway for more concerts. From Norway, she flies to Buenas Aires for another concert and finishes the season by once again returning to Sweden for a concert at the Värmland Classic Festival.
So far, for the 2001/02 season, She begins with a concert at the Värmland Classic Festival and following that, she is engaged by the Los Angeles Opera where she will make her American debut in the role of Valencienne in "The Merry Widow", followed by the role of Micaela in "Carmen" in her debut with the Washington Opera. She also makes another debut with the Bregenz Festival as Mimi in "La Boheme", a role she will repeat at the Washington Opera the following season.
